Donald Trump Insults “Terrible” Minnesota Gov After Assassinations

As hundreds of thousands of Americans held “No Kings” protests on Saturday (June 14), Donald Trump was celebrating his birthday by throwing a $45 million military parade in D.C.

The event was a bust judging by the low turnout and fellow politicians filmed yawning with boredom. Even so, Trump’s perceived arrogance continued.

When asked about the assassinations of State Rep. Melissa Hortman—the top Democrat in the Minnesota House—and her husband, Trump replied by throwing a jab at Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

“Well, it’s a terrible thing,” he told ABC Senior Political Correspondent Rachel Scott. “I think he’s a terrible governor. I think he’s a grossly incompetent person. But I may, I may call him, I may call other people too.”

Trump to @rachelvscott when asked about reaching out to Gov. Walz about the Minnesota shooting: “Well, it’s a terrible thing. I think he’s a terrible governor. I think he’s a grossly incompetent person. But I may, I may call him, I may call other people too,” the president said.

The search for the suspect accused of shooting Hortman and her husband, Mark, while impersonating a police officer continued into Sunday (June 15). Vance Boelter, 57, now listed among the FBI’s most wanted, is suspected of fatally shooting the couple at their home. He’s also accused of shooting Democratic state senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, at their residence, leaving them seriously injured.

Authorities have distributed photos of Boelter to border patrol agents, concerned he may attempt to cross into Canada. Meanwhile, Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar stated on NBC’s Meet the Press that law enforcement believes Boelter remains in the Midwest, possibly still in Minnesota or nearby states, with alerts issued in South Dakota as a precaution.

“We believe he’s somewhere in the vicinity, and they are going to find him,” Klobuchar said. “But right now, everyone is on edge here because we know that this man will kill again.” She urged the public to be vigilant and to avoid approaching Boelter, instead calling tip lines immediately if he is spotted.

Police responded to the shooting at Hortman’s home around 3:30 a.m. local time, where they encountered Boelter leaving the property dressed as a police officer. He exchanged gunfire with officers before fleeing on foot.

Boelter’s police-style uniform and equipment—including a vest, Taser, and badge—were described as highly convincing. He also used a vehicle that closely resembled a police SUV, complete with emergency lights, making his impersonation difficult to distinguish from genuine law enforcement.

Law enforcement officials stress that Boelter should be considered armed and dangerous, and the public is urged to remain alert and report any sightings immediately
