Ghostface Killah shared his thoughts on Drake’s lawsuit against Universal Music Group, brushing off the legal drama and reminding everyone that Hip-Hop was born in the streets, not the courtroom.
Speaking with XXL while promoting his long-awaited album Supreme Clientele 2, the Wu-Tang Clan legend said he wasn’t fully up to speed on the lawsuit but had heard it was tied to Drake’s ongoing battle with Kendrick Lamar and accusations that UMG favored Lamar.
“I mean, would have never did it,” Ghostface said, making it clear that suing a label over a rap beef isn’t his style. “People be forgetting, sometimes rap is a street game. Man, we did this from the streets. Battle goes with rap, and it’s like, Yo, you got to be able to take it, man, and if you was to take that L it’s like, Yo, son, you lost. You can’t just go sue the company.”
He didn’t stop there. “Because even if there was nothing behind it, and he just would have beat you with bars, it’s like, Yo, bro, you got beat.”
Ghostface also made it clear he doesn’t get too caught up in industry squabbles. “I don’t like to stick my nose,” he said. “That’s small s### to me.”
When asked if lawsuits like Drake’s could hurt the competitive edge of Hip-Hop, Ghostface pointed to Drake’s global reach.
“Drake is big,” he explained. “He’s a big artist, so it got more light to it. Now if these little n##### on the block is doing it, it ain’t even get that much attention.”
He acknowledged Drake’s influence at UMG, saying, “They gave him crazy millions to get ahead and stay with Universal… He might got a voice in there.”

The comments come as Ghostface celebrates the release of Supreme Clientele 2, his follow-up to the 2000 classic.
The new album dropped in August through Mass Appeal Records as part of their Legend Has It series and includes features from Nas, Raekwon, Method Man, Conway the Machine and Styles P.
“Everything was just right,” he told XXL. “The fans was calling for it, first of all. I could have been took care of business, but I was doing projects for other people.”
The album’s release coincides with the Wu-Tang Clan Forever: Final Chapter Tour, which includes European dates.
Despite the tour’s title, Ghostface made it clear he’s not stepping away from the mic anytime soon.
