Chris Brown’s $500 Million Defamation Lawsuit Over ‘A History Of Violence’ Documentary Dismissed By Judge

Chris Brown was not happy over the way in which claims of sexual assault were ‘portrayed’ in a documentary titled A History Of Violence, and sued Warner Bros. Discovery & Ample Entertainment over “promoting and publishing false information in their pursuit of likes, clicks, downloads and dollars and to the detriment.”

However, a judge has now dismissed the USD 500 Million lawsuit entirely in favor of the makers of the documentary that detailed years of abuse perpetrated by Chris Brown. What the singer ridiculed as a media piece “full of lies and deception” has been deemed “a ‘fair and true’ report of statements and the judicial record and proceedings” by the court that “personally viewed the entire documentary,” as mentioned in Judge Colin Leis’ statement.

Brown’s primary contention with the presentation of evidence was related to a case in which the singer allegedly raped a woman on a yacht owned by Diddy in 2020. According to Brown, the survivor herself had a violent history and had concealed key text messages when reporting the incident to Miami Police. To Brown, the woman’s account was “inconsistent.”

“The documentary recites most of the inconsistencies plaintiff notes, including the existence of the text messages,” the Judge wrote. Furthermore, the Judge also refuted Brown’s claim of defamation caused by the highlighting of an article by writer Scaachi Koul, who has been quoted to express that Chris Brown has a “predisposition for punching women in the face.”

The Judge dismissed it, citing that Brown himself “has admitted to punching the singer Rihanna.” While the lawsuit would have been a lofty affair, it seems though as there is no merit to Brown’s case. The story was first reported by Billboard.
