Drake called out former Canadian politician Jagmeet Singh for attending a Kendrick Lamar concert in Toronto and got an apology that played out on Instagram for everyone to see.

Drake put Singh on blast after spotting him at the Grand National Tour stop in his hometown last week, where Kendrick performed alongside SZA.

The rapper sent Singh a direct message reading, “You’re a goof,” and then posted a screenshot of the message on his Instagram Story, making the insult public.

The jab followed Drake and K. Dot’s intense feud last summer, with the show at Drake’s hometown seen by many as a symbolic front line in their lyrical war.

Singh, the former leader of Canada’s New Democratic Party, responded with a public apology on Sunday night (June 15), attempting to clear the air and explain his presence at the show.

“I went for SZA, not Kendrick,” Singh wrote on his Instagram Story, adding, “I was born in this city. I love this city. But real talk, I get it. I shouldn’t have gone at all. OVO and Drake have lifted up this city and [Canada]. For me it’ll always be Drake over Kendrick.”

The apology didn’t stop the fallout. Drake unfollowed Jagmeet Singh on Instagram, signaling a clear end to whatever cordial relationship they might have had before the concert.

The situation sparked debate across social media, with some calling out Drake for publicly criticizing a politician over a concert, while others argued that Singh should have known better than to attend a rival’s show following a feud with one of Canada’s most significant cultural exports.
