Pusha T ignited backlash over fatherhood and double standards after an Instagram post celebrating his second child with wife Virginia Williams drew sharp criticism online. The Clipse rapper’s message, intended as a tribute to his spouse, instead triggered accusations of parental neglect.
@babyginny thank you for my second baby boy…” he wrote. “i hope you carry on with tradition and never teach me how to change a diaper, prep a meal, suck out a snotty nose, or anything else a Supermom does. You make things very easy for me and I love and appreciate you for it all. See you spring 2026 my boy.”
The post quickly stirred debate, with some accusing the Virginia native of bragging about avoiding basic childcare. Critics labeled him a “deadbeat dad,” calling out what they saw as a tone-deaf celebration of disengagement.
The controversy is especially pointed given Pusha’s own lyrical history. In his 2018 diss track “The Story of Adidon,” he famously accused Drake of being an absentee father, rapping “Deadbeat ass dad” in reference to the Canadian star’s then-secret son, Adonis.
Now, the tables have turned. The Grammy-nominated MC, known for his sharp critiques and no-nonsense persona, finds himself under the same microscope he once aimed at others.
Pusha T, born Terrence Thornton, married Virginia Williams in 2018. The couple welcomed their first child in 2020. Despite his public career, the rapper has largely kept his family life out of the spotlight.
