Aneshai Smith, founder and CEO of GO See The City, has spearheaded a game-changing partnership with Levy Restaurant Group, marking a significant milestone in the fight against food waste and hunger. Leveraging GO See The City’s Hariet.AI enterprise platform, this partnership has enabled GO See The City to divert surplus food from major stadiums, including Paycom Center Arena, home of the NBA’s Oklahoma Thunder, and now Oklahoma University’s Memorial Stadium, where unused food from Oklahoma Sooners football games is being redirected to those in need.

In their initial collaboration at Paycom Center Arena, GO See The City, powered by the Hariet.AI platform, diverted over 2,500 lbs of unused food that otherwise would have ended up in the waste stream, providing meals to almost 2000 individuals. This success prompted the expansion of the partnership to the Sooners’ Memorial Stadium, amplifying the impact of this transformative initiative.

“I’m so grateful for this partnership. By teaming up with Levy Restaurant Group, we’re taking concrete action to address food waste and food insecurity. Levy is committed to making a positive difference in the community, and I look forward to scaling the partnership with them to make an even bigger impact,” says Aneshai.

“We’re thrilled to partner with GO See The City to enhance our efforts in combating food waste at Sooners football games, while also helping to combat hunger in our community, and to launch the partnership on the eve of Earth Day is amazing,” says Mark Mabry, Levy Restaurant Group Senior Executive Chef.

Restaurants generate an estimated 22 to 33 billion pounds of food waste annually, equivalent to filling 730 football stadiums. According to the USDA, 40% of all food ends up as waste, while approximately 27 million people in the United States are food insecure. This partnership with Levy Restaurant Group, which manages operations at more than 200 stadiums and arenas nationwide, including Crypto.com Arena and Kia Center, home of the L.A. Lakers and Orlando Magic respectively, aims to tackle these staggering statistics head-on.

Hariet.AI, named in honor of Harriet Tubman, symbolizes a commitment to guiding surplus food and farming crops to those in need. This AI-powered platform connects eateries of all types, including restaurants, farms, stadiums, festivals, food trucks, and more with surplus food to nonprofits fighting food insecurity, while the consumer-facing GO See The City app (coming soon to the Oklahoma state area) connects users to surplus food at deep discounts. This ensures that no food goes to waste and addresses food insecurity and food costs in communities. Through Hariet.AI, eateries can easily redirect their unused food to those who need it most, creating a direct and efficient pathway for food redistribution, and reducing greenhouse gasses caused by food that ends up in landfills.

Aneshai’s groundbreaking approach to combating food waste and hunger has garnered recognition from leading tech accelerators like TechStars Tulsa, positioning GO See The City for substantial growth in 2024. As they continue to forge partnerships with entities aligned with the USDA and EPA’s food waste reduction goals of reducing food waste and food loss by 50% by 2030, the impact of GO See The City, and its enterprise platform Hariet.AI, is poised to reach even greater heights.
